Original TURUS UKKO Lures
In 2006, Jarmo Rapala (the grandson of Lauri Rapala) brought the famous TURUS UKKO lures back to Finland. Since then, Jarmo Rapala has attached great importance to ensuring that the TURUS UKKO lures are as successful and catch just as successfully as when its inventor Jorma Turunen was still responsible for the TURUS UKKO.
Jarmo Rapala has been able to improve the quality even further thanks to his extensive know-how and his excellent worldwide relationships in lure making. He hired Veli-Pekka Sahinoja, who already made the TURUS UKKO wobblers for Jorma Turunen, so that the wobblers have the same shape and design as before. Today’s TURUS UKKO wobblers therefore offer optimum quality and seamlessly tie in with old traditions.
The production of the TURUS UKKO wobblers takes place – then as now – in manual work by hand. The wooden bodies are milled, smoothed by hand and a metal weight is placed in the head area, so that the lures run horizontally (to compensate the uneven buoyancy between head and tail area). An extremely resilient hook-in eyelet in the head area and of course also stainless steel eyelets for the ultra-sharp and stainless treble hooks are a matter of course with this premium lure. TURUS UKKO wobblers have multiple coats of colours. Firstly, they are primed in different immersion baths of a thinn and a thick layer of primer, which provides protection against bite marks hurting the outer skin of the lures and thus against water penetrating into the inside of the lure. This ensures the unique running characteristics of the TURUS UKKO wobblers even after years of hard use. The crowning highlight is the finely crafted colour sample, also applied by hand, with a final clear coat that offers additional protection against damage.
As a first step we produce the TURUS UKKO wobblers in four different sizes. 9 cm, 12 cm, 16 cm and 20 cm as traditional versions and as completely new shallow versions. Additionally the production of the old 30 cm version is planned and the TURUS UKKO GmbH is developing a special high frequency deep runner crankbait together with Jarmo Rapala.
The main area of the 20 cm version of the TURUS UKKO wobblers is the classic trolling for pike, muskie and big char and salmon, whereby this lure size particularly appeals to the big pike ladies. It can also be used extremely successfully for freshwater heavy spin fishing with suitably designed rods and baitcasting reels. The 12 cm and 16 cm versions of the TURUS UKKO wobblers are the all-rounders of the TURUS UKKO lures. It is perfect for both: trolling and spinning. Target fish are, on the one hand, of course pike, but also heavy sea trout and salmon. Capital big pike perch also love the TURUS UKKO wobbler in this size. The 9 cm version is mainly used for spin fishing and trolling for European zander, perch and black bass and have meanwhile become one of the top sellers of the TURUS UKKO lure series.

TURUS UKKO Jerk 15 cm
The TURUS UKKO Jerk is developed in Finland by Janne Koivisto and Jarmo Rapala. It is designed for northern pike and muskie with regard to size, colors and swimming action. Many famous and passionate pike fishermen have been involved in designing, developing and testing the lure. For this jerk the same high quality standards apply and everything starts with a high end lure body made of highly impact-resistant strong and durable injection-moulded plastic, which has similar buoyancy characteristics as wood, but is much harder and has more to confront the attacks, especially of big pike
One piece of steel wire extends throughout the body from head to tail. Moving balls inside create an attracting nuance to the lures movement and vibration. The weight and size in relation to the dimensions of the inner rattling chamber of the lure have been adjusted in such a way that a dull sounding heavy noise is generated by the individual movement impulses of the lure.
Together with the slight vibrations of the jerk caused by the ball, it has an incredible effect on the side line organ of predator fish, which can´t do anything else than to take a closer look at what is happening. What the predator sees then does not spread less stimulus. The jerk comes across as an injured prey fish in stately size. Each Ukko Jerk is hand-painted and finished with several layers of long-lasting coating. The TURUS UKKO Jerk has a unique and diverse swimming action and impresses with the variety of options for handling this lure. As a glider, it breaks out laterally after the individual acceleration phases to the left and right. In addition, its weight has been deliberately selected to ensure that the lure sinks during periods of rest. Thus the TURUS UKKO Jerk runs in all desired directions and it can be adapted to all fishing conditions. In the colder season, the TURUS UKKO Jerk can be run very slowly. The lure can perfectly imitate the last twitches of an injured fish, which seems to be a simple prey, by occasionally reeling in the lure or by movements with the tip of the rod. Different from many similar type of lures TURUS UKKO Jerk has a specially unpredictable, erratic and irregular movement irresistible for pike.
In the warmer season, faster phases can be included, so that especially the predators who are actively looking for food can be addressed. It is important for all lure runs that in the free-wheeling phases, the line should be given to ensure that the lure provides the most intensive stimulation possible. With the TURUS UKKO Jerk, especially shoreline areas and shallow water zones can be searched very successfully for pike lurking for fat prey. Due to the fact that the lure can be led very flat in a fast way and can easily reach depths of up to 2 meters due to slow movements, this Jerk is ideal for fantastic fishing experiences. The TURUS UKKO Jerk is always responsible for exceptional catches of pike beyond the one meter mark, often even for catching specimens of well over 20 pounds.
The TURUS UKKO Jerk has very uniform and effective throwing characteristics. Its ingenious shape and weight distribution are the reason for first-class flight phases and wide distances, so that the largest possible area can be successfully searched for pike.
